Guide to the Automatic DDNS Configuration Feature (for Dahua & Hikvision)

This article shows you how to automatically configure a DDNS hostname for DAHUA and HIKVISION devices directly on the website.

To run the automatic setup, please prepare the following information:

  1. Your current WAN IP of the modem where the device is installed. You can check the current IP at: (https://fastddns.net/ip). If you are not on-site, send this link (https://fastddns.net/ip) to someone at the location and ask them to check the current IP (they must be on the same network as the device you want to configure DDNS for).
  2. You have opened the device’s HTTP port and noted it down (usually port 80; if you changed it, remember the new port). You can test access via http://{WAN-IP}:port (it is correct when the DAHUA or HIKVISION login page appears).
  1. You have the device login credentials (username and password).

After the hostname/domain is created, go to the domain information section, find Automatic DDNS Configuration, tick the steps, then click Start Setup.

Fill in the required information on the website, then click “Run Automatic Configuration”.

If the setup is successful, you will see a notification like the one below:

After the process finishes, wait 1–2 minutes and check whether the website shows a notification that the IP address has been updated. If you see the update message, the setup is officially successful.

The current address is shown under: Current IP, as in the image below.

Note: For a small number of DAHUA recorders/cameras, the setup may show a success message but the device does not actually update its IP to the server. If this happens, please try another configuration method. Typically, these models do not provide DDNS options such as DynDNS or No-IP in the DDNS settings.
